VIDEO: Glen Ridge avenges loss to Kinnelon, advances to state final | ||

The Glen Ridge girls' soccer team is back where it believes it belongs: the Group I state final. The Ridgers earned their third trip to the final in four years and gained some revenge in the process with a 1-0 win over Kinnelon. The Colts defeated Glen Ridge in the state semifinal last year en route to winning the state championship.
Tomison Kennedy scored in the first half off an assist from Colleen Grady, and the Ridgers' defense made that single goal stand up. Glen Ridge goalie Ryanne Ege had to make just three saves to earn the shutout. There were a few nervous moments in the final seconds, though, when Lainey Lewis of Kinnelon directed a header toward goal. After a deflection, Emily Gill of the Ridgers cleared the ball away from the goal line. Kinnelon goalie Emily Kapr made nine saves to keep the Colts in the game. The Colts, who for the second straight year won the North 1, Group I sectional title as a lower seed, finish the season 17-7-2. Glen Ridge is now 17-5-1. The Ridgers play Shore Regional in Saturday's Group I state final, the same team they met in the final in both 2012 and 2013.
