Scoring three times in the first 13 minutes, Delbarton left no doubt in its sectional semifinal boys' soccer game against Bergen Catholic. Despite coming in as the lower seed and playing on the road, the Green Wave scored an impressive 6-2 win to reach another sectional final. Ethan Fabricant scored twice in the opening minutes, and Steven Hadley converted a penalty kick for the first of his two goals. The Green Wave, seeded fourth in North Non-Public A, then held that three-goal margin for the rest of the first half.
Miles Franklyn put home an acrobatic volley in the early stages of the second half to raise Bergen Catholic's hopes. But Delbarton came back just two minutes later on a header by Sam Fuchs. Hadley and Ryan Stefanick would complete the scoring for the Green Wave. Franklyn had both goals for the top-seeded Crusaders, both times from assists by Cole Bosch. Nick Vafiadis made nine saves. Bergen Catholic completes its season at 15-2-1. Delbarton goalie Kyle Swift made four saves, and five different players recorded assists. The Green Wave now holds a 17-3-1 record and will meet Seton Hall Prep in the sectional final in a match-up of Top 10 teams in the state.
