Led by a dominant hitting performance by P.J. Gencarelli, the Belleville boys' volleyball team soared into the sectional final. The Bucs knocked off Wayne Valley in two straight games, 25-19 and 25-18, to move within one win of completing a trifecta. Gencarelli had 20 kills for Belleville. He added three blocks and two aces, and won four straight points on his serve early in the second game that gave the Bucs a 10-4 lead. Wayne Valley would come no closer than three points the rest of the way.
Marlon Rodriguez added seven kills for second-seeded Belleville. Ammar Rahim notched 24 assists and had five blocks. Mike Foglia led Wayne Valley, the third seed, with seven kills. Dylan Beland had six kills and three blocks while Danny Sciolaro added four kills and three blocks. The Indians, who won the Passaic County tournament, finish their season at 21-6. Belleville, now 27-2, hopes to add the North 1 sectional title to the league and Essex County championships it already won this spring. The Bucs face top seed Fair Lawn, which in April handed Belleville one of its only losses this season.
