Ramapo overcame a tough Paramus team, and its own mistakes, to remain unbeaten this football season. The Green Raiders committed four turnovers, but still prevailed 21-7 for their seventh win against no defeats. Conor Krup's 41-yard punt return proved to be the key play of the game. Krup ran back a short punt in the third quarter to make the score 14-0. The big play came after several promising Ramapo drives had ended in turnovers.
Paramus made things interesting with its only scoring drive of the game, capped by Matt Tozzi's two-yard touchdown run early in the final period. But Ramapo answered back to ice the game on Anthony LoVecchio's 18-yard scoring pass to Neil O'Connor. Skyler Amador ran for 120 yards for Ramapo on 20 carries. Amador's 12-yard touchdown run capped a 93-yard drive in the first quarter. LoVecchio completed 14-of-20 passes for 132 yards and the one touchdown, but also had three passes intercepted. O'Connor was the leading receiver for Ramapo with six catches for 63 yards and the score. Pat O'Hagan added five catches for 41 yards. Paramus quarterback Tyler Smith struggled throwing the ball, completing just 9-of-24 passes on the night. But the sophomore ran for 114 yards on 16 carries, including a 40-yard scamper to key the Spartans' scoring drive. Tozzi added 15 carries for 39 yards and the touchdown. Darius House recorded two of the interceptions for Paramus, while Steven Regalbuto had an interception and a fumble recovery. Christian Albanese led a stout defensive effort by Ramapo with a pair of sacks and 11 total tackles. Ralph Hroncich and Daniel Conti had 12 tackles apiece. Next up, 7-0 Ramapo faces a showdown with Pascack Valley in a battle of undefeated Bergen County teams. Paramus falls to 4-3.
