Dana Woods scored both goals as third-seeded Passaic Valley moved on to the semifinals of the Passaic County field hockey tournament with a 2-0 win over Pompton Lakes.

The goals came early and late as the Hornets knocked out the sixth-seeded Cardinals. Neither seemed like a serious scoring opportunity for Woods, but she sent the ball in front of the cage and good things happened.

Brianna Salvemini made four saves for Passaic Valley. Beth Hrehovcik had an assist as the Hornets improved to 5-2.

Pompton Lakes fell to 1-6-1 on the season. Jess Kellenbach made five saves.
