PHOTOS: Lenape Valley takes title at holiday wrestling tourney

With five wrestlers capturing individual titles, the home team pulled out the team wrestling championship at the Lenape Valley Holiday Tournament.

Joe LaBell, Nick Palumbo, D.J. Barrett, Jake Falleni and Ralph Hall were the individual winners for Lenape Valley. The Patriots scored 215 points, squeezing past second-place Voorhees, which ended up with 210.5 points.

LaBell's 170-pound final was key in the team race, and he came through for Lenape Valley, pinning Sam Lamport of Voorhees late in the second period. Barrett then clinched the overall win for the Patriots when he defeated Patrick Endrikat of Wallkill Valley, 12-1, at 182 pounds.

The Patriots also had a pair of runner-up finishes and three third-place wrestlers.

With 188 points, Montville placed third in the event. Connor Meytrott and Michael Glasser were individual champs for the Mustangs.

Kinnelon also had two winners as it took fourth place; Scott Smith and David LoCasio took home titles for the Colts. Wallkill Valley came in fifth, while Whippany Park was sixth but grabbed one individual title as Joe Prato won at 160 points. The Blair Academy "B" team finished in seventh.
