|PHOTOS: Lenape Valley sinks Sussex Tech to close in on title|
The Lenape Valley softball season has been wild and unpredictable thus far. But when playing a game that could result in a championship, the Patriots have been consistent winners.
That trend continued as Lenape Valley scored an 11-1 triumph over Sussex Tech. The win makes the Patriots 6-0 within the NJAC Freedom Division and moves them closer to a league title.
Ally Tufaro went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs for Lenape Valley. Danielle Keller was 2-for-2 with a double and scored twice, while Rachel Brueninger had two hits and an RBI. Milena Lacatena had a double and drove in two runs.
Madison Wronko pitched the first four innings, allowing a run on one hit, to get the win. Lenape Valley jumped ahead with four runs in the first inning, and ended the game on the mercy rule in the fifth.
Sussex Tech managed two hits in the game. The Mustangs fall to 4-11.
Lenape Valley is 11-6. Its winning ways in key games have also carried over to the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Tournament, where the Patriots reached the semifinals with an upset of North Hunterdon. Lenape Valley meets Voorhees this weekend as it bids to get to the final.
The Patriots wore special pink cancer-awareness jerseys in this home victory.
