Beginning this fall, a new era begins for high school
sports fans in the Passaic/Morris County area

JerseySportsNow.com will bring local coverage of scholastic sports to a different level.  The website will feature television-style video highlights of games on the Internet.

Currently, schools in the area receive little or no such coverage, unless they reach the highest levels of the state tournament.  But Jersey Sports Now will be different, offering video reportage on a regular, week-to-week basis.

Another difference:  Jersey Sports Now won’t just focus on one or two sports throughout the year.  Cameras will cover football, soccer and field hockey in the fall; basketball, wrestling and ice hockey in winter; and baseball, softball and lacrosse in the spring.  Video reports on other sports are also planned.

But Jersey Sports Now isn’t only about video.  The website will offer game stories and box scores, as well as feature reporting on the area’s athletes and coaches.  It will also be a “one-stop shop” for information about local high school teams.

At present, you might have to visit one website for sports schedules, check another site for results, and buy a newspaper if you want to see league standings.  Now fans will be able to find all that and more on one website.

The immediacy of the Internet will also come into play.  JerseySportsNow.com will feature a live scoreboard, keeping folks up to date on the big games around the region.  Also, stories and video will be available shortly after the game, not the next day.

For the first year of coverage, JerseySportsNow.com decided to focus on a dozen local high schools:  Boonton, Butler, DePaul, Kinnelon, Lakeland, Montville, Mountain Lakes, Passaic Valley, Pequannock, Pompton Lakes, Wayne Valley and West Milford.

“We didn’t want to overextend ourselves,” said site founder Paul Mencher for Jersey Sports Now.  “We want to make sure we can offer the best quality of coverage for each school.  Our goal is to add more schools for the next year.”

JerseySportsNow.com will be an advertiser-supported business, meaning viewers won’t have to pay to enjoy any of its features.  The website was designed in conjunction with JAR Web Design, a local firm.

So when the fall sports season kicks off on September 12th, be sure to visit JerseySportsNow.com to see your local teams in action!
