After a tough day against Pingry earlier in the week, the Kinnelon girls' soccer team rebounded with a solid 3-1 win over Mountain Lakes in a Colonial Hills Conference-Colonial Division game. Allie Speck scored twice to lead the Colts.
Kinnelon took the lead less than five minutes into the contest when Justine Gray crossed it to senior Carleigh Morba, who scored her third goal of the season. Ten minutes later, Speck scored directly from a corner kick, to make it a 2-0 soccer game at halftime.
Mountain Lakes made it interesting midway through the second half when Anna Fishel scored on a direct kick just outside the Kinnelon box. But the Colts got a key insurance goal when Speck converted a direct kick as well, the junior's third goal of the campaign.
Kinnelon outshot the Lakers 12-5 in the game. Now sporting a 2-1 record, the Colts will host Science on Saturday afternoon in its next game.
