Dan Deighan didn't seem to mind the rain during Lakeland High School's season-opening football game against Passaic Tech. The senior quarterback ran for two touchdowns and threw for two more scores as the Lancers toppled the Bulldogs, 29-9.

Deighan opened the scoring with a 30-yard touchdown jaunt in the first quarter. After PCT kicked a field goal to cut the lead, the Lancers scored a safety when they blocked a punt through the end zone. On the ensuing drive, Deighan scored on a quarterback draw to make it 15-3 at halftime.
This was Deighan's first game back at quarterback after playing wide receiver for the past two seasons, but he didn't look uncomfortable. His two touchdown passes capped a solid all-around day and put the victory away for the Lancers.
