In a sports event that started in sunshine but ended in a downpour, the DePaul High School softball team pulled out a 5-1 win over league rival Lakeland. Chelsea Batelli had 14 strikeouts and the Spartans scored three times in the fifth inning. The game was ended in the top of the 7th when lightning struck.
