The Lakeland High School football team made a habit of this kind of win a year ago, and the 2009 Lancers appear ready to pick up the torch. In a defensive slugfest with Wayne Valley, the Lancers made several key stops to keep the game scoreless until the final minutes. Then Lakeland made the plays on offense to set up the winning kick. The victory is crucial in Lakeland's bid to return to the New Jersey football state playoffs while damaging the chances of the Indians.
