Coming off three difficult losses, the Montville football team made sure it didn't go home disappointed again. The Mustangs broke their losing streak with a strong second half in a 20-13 win over Passaic Valley High School in Northern Hills Conference play.

Passaic Valley had the football in Montville territory for most of the first half but could only capitalize with six points. The Montville defense hung in there and did not break and stopped Passaic Valley on the big third down plays when needed.
Passaic Valley played well, but due to running back injuries they came in with game plan to pass often. Quarterback Frank Giardina connected with wide receiver Alan Bogoevski for some huge gains, but the Hornets could not convert in some crucial moments of the game.
It took a while for Montville's running game to get going but they are potent and can pick up yards in a hurry and turned the game around quickly. The Mustangs controlled most of the second half, putting together two scoring drives that allowed them to build a 20-6 lead.
Montville faces another important game next week when they take on 4-1 West Milford. -- Jersey Sports Now
