Jenny Tafro scored twice in the last seven minutes to lead Passaic Valley to a season-opening field hockey win over Wayne Valley.

Both goals came off penalty corner opportunities for the Hornets.  The first tally was unassisted, while Melissa Coppa earned the assist on the second goal, which put the game away with 3:10 to play.

Passaic Valley outshot the Indians 20-7, but Wayne Valley goalie Kelly Sotsky kept her team in the game with 18 saves.  Samantha Dilkes stopped all seven shots at her to earn the shutout. The game was the high school sports season opener for both squads.
