For the first two periods of their state playoff game against West Essex, the Passaic Valley ice hockey team was clearly outplayed. But goalie Joe Calandriello kept the score at 1-0, and when Ken Dahdah struck for two goals in the third period, the Hornets appeared poised for a huge sports victory. But the Knights forced overtime and pulled out the win, in what would prove to be their biggest scare en route to the New Jersey Public B state title.
