Pompton Lakes qualified for the New Jersey state boys' basketball tournament for the first time in 18 years, earning a trip to face Dumont in the opening round. The Cardinals hung tough, battling back to tie the game in the final minutes, but the Huskies won it on a hoop with less than 10 seconds to play, ending a strong basketball season for Pompton Lakes.
