Things were looking good for the Pompton Lakes girls' basketball team in its return to the New Jersey state playoffs. The Cardinals built a 10-point lead early in the fourth quarter, and seemingly had Hawthorne bottled up. But the Bears exploded for a huge late run and pulled out a wild sports victory that brought the Cardinals' basketball season to a disappointing end.
