Passaic Valley entered the county field hockey tournament as the 4th seed. But the Hornets upset the top seed, Pompton Lakes, in the semifinals. Then in the final, two goals by Jenny Tafro gave Passaic Valley the lead, and it held off a late Wayne Hills rally to earn its first field hockey county title in three years.
