Wayne Valley's sports teams, including the football squad, will begin the fall season with a new artificial turf sports field. The new surface was installed over the summer along with a similar one at sister school Wayne Hills.
"It's something I wanted to get for the past few years," says Wayne Valley football coach Brian O'Connor. "We finally had enough parents to really push for it."
"It's something we needed," O'Connor adds. "It looks like a great football field but it's actually a multi-purpose field." The football team has used the surface at times during its preseason practices.
One of the main advantages of the field is during adverse weather conditions. "We had a couple of games last year where we had some bad rain but now we don't have to worry about it," says O'Connor. "It's just nice to have such a great facility like this."
The football team plays its first game on the new sports field on Friday, September 12th when the Indians host Clifton.
