Glen Rock poured 64 shots on goal and advanced to the second round of the New Jersey ice hockey state tournament. The Panthers dominated Central Regional, 6-0, to move on in the Public B bracket. After a first period during which Central managed to hold its own, Glen Rock took complete control in the second period, scoring three times. The Panthers added two more in the third and would have had many more if not for the excellent performance of Golden Eagles goalie R.J. Boucher.
Tom LaMacchia had the hat trick for third-seeded Glen Rock, scoring all of his goals in the first two periods. Peter Bolt, Jake Kinney and Eric Spada also lit the lamp for the Panthers, while Ryan Castellano had two assists. Matt Rosario didn't have too much work, but had to make a few tough saves out of the 19 shots he stopped to earn the shutout. Boucher made a whopping 58 saves for Central Regional, the 30th seed. The Golden Eagles, who play in the Shore Conference's B Division, finish the season 13-9. Glen Rock is now 19-3-3. The Panthers face fellow Big North squad Mahwah in the second round of the Public B states.
