Led by the scoring of Shawn Ulrich and Jihad Wright, the Passaic Valley boys' basketball team moved into the second round of the state tournament. The eighth-seeded Hornets knocked off ninth seed Warren Hills, 60-49.

Ulrich scored 21 points including an emphatic dunk in the third quarter. Wright contributed 19 points and several assists.

Tito Ramirez added eight points for Passaic Valley. The Hornets established a comfortable lead by outscoring Warren Hills 25-15 in the second quarter.

Anthony Veneziano led Warren Hills with 19 points. John Bamford added 10 for the Blue Streaks, who finish their season at 18-7.

Passaic Valley is now 21-6. The Hornets move on to face top seed Colonia in the very tough North 2, Group III sectional bracket.
