Delbarton appears ready to reclaim its spot atop the New Jersey ice hockey ladder. The Green Wave soared into the Non-Public state finals with a dazzling 8-2 win over Bishop Eustace. Seven different Delbarton players lit the lamp as the Green Wave demonstrated their depth. Five other players added assists in an impressive display of puck control and passing skills.
Delbarton jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period before Bishop Eustace got a goal back. The Green Wave added two more in the second period and put the game away in the third. Harrison Newman was the only Delbarton player with two goals. Kevin Obssuth had a goal and two assists, while Drew O'Connor and Steven Agriogianis had one goal and one assist apiece. Aaron Maguyon and David Kaplan scored for Bishop Eustace. But it was a tough day for the Crusaders' best-known players, the sons of former Philadelphia Flyer Keith Primeau. Chayse Primeau had an assist before leaving the game with an injury, while goalie Cayden Primeau was victimized by Delbarton's offensive onslaught. Fourth-seeded Bishop Eustace finishes the season 14-7-1. Delbarton, the top seed, is now 23-4-1. The Green Wave will face the only New Jersey team to hand it a defeat this year, third-seeded Christian Brothers Academy, in Monday's state final at the Prudential Center in Newark.
