Ramapo nearly let a game get away with a sloppy fourth quarter, but still found a way to win. A key three-point play by Matt Latka in overtime lifted the Green Raiders to a 58-54 boys' basketball triumph over St. Peter's Prep. The Marauders erased a 10-point deficit in the final three-and-a-half minutes of regulation, tying the game on Jorge Portorreal's driving layup with just seconds left. But St. Peter's couldn't generate anything offensively in the extra session, getting outscored by Ramapo 7-3 in the overtime.
Latka had 17 points to lead the way for the Raiders. Joe O'Hagan scored 13 points and added four steals, and Ryan Curtiss scored eight for Ramapo. The game took place at Hudson Catholic High School in Jersey City as part of the Garden State Hoops Challenge. The Raiders led by 17 points early in the third quarter before St. Peter's started its comeback. Ramapo missed a number of free throws down the stretch and was pressured into numerous turnovers by the Marauders' defense. Portorreal led St. Peter's with 15 points. Jordyn Owens scored 13 points, while Shayne Simon had 10 points and nine rebounds. The Marauders are 8-6 on the season. Ramapo improves to 15-1.
