Down five goals in the third quarter, Bergen Catholic made a huge rally to force overtime against prep power the Hun School. Then Jeremy Magno made a big individual play early in the extra session for the winning goal that gave the Crusaders an 11-10 triumph. Magno intercepted an errant clearing pass, raced in and put home the game-winner just 47 seconds into overtime. He had three goals and an assist on the day to lead the Bergen Catholic offense.
Trevor Weingarten also scored three times for the Crusaders. Frankie Feaster found the net twice, including the tying goal with 44 seconds left in regulation. A.J. Anderson, Dwayne Mattushik and Gene Coleman also had goals for Bergen Catholic. Luke Prybylski had a massive game for Hun, scoring three goals and adding five assists. Matt Schleicher and Griffin Moroney also recorded hat tricks for the Raiders, and goalie Jon Levine had 14 saves. Hun is now 7-3 this season after going 19-1 last year. This is the Princeton school's first loss to a non-prep opponent in two seasons. Bergen Catholic scored its fourth consecutive win as it appears to be back on track after a rough start. The Crusaders are now 6-5. For sports video highlights of this New Jersey high school boys' lacrosse game, click play in the box at left. |
