Both Wayne Valley and Clifton went all out to try to earn their first win of the ice hockey season. Both teams had their chances for victory, but the game wound up in a 4-4 tie. Matt Kolodziczyk scored three times for Clifton as the Mustangs rallied from a 3-1 deficit to take the lead. But Marc Nucci's goal for Wayne Valley with 5:30 to play knotted things up.
The Indians had plenty more chances to score, but couldn't get the game-winner past Clifton netminder Tyler Gibson. Gibson made 32 saves in the contest. Max Schwartz led Wayne Valley offensively, scoring twice and creating numerous chances. Braden Ploehn also found the net for the Indians, while goalie Eric Birnberg made 28 saves. Brittany Meneghin scored Clifton's other goal. Dennis Ruppe, Brett Finan and Tim Finan had two assists apiece in the game at Floyd Hall Arena in Little Falls. The draw leaves Clifton at 0-2-2 on the season, while Wayne Valley is now 0-3-1.
