Mahwah scored a pair of early goals, then held on to post a 2-1 ice hockey victory over Wayne Valley. Jared Moss made 19 saves for the Thunderbirds.

Early on, it appeared Mahwah would easily skate past the struggling Indians. Zack Toy scored less than three minutes into the game, and Shane Ciongoli added a second goal under five minutes later. Tyler Gutierrez and Johnathan De Marco had assists.

But Wayne Valley picked up its play in the middle period, and recorded a power play goal from Marc Perez. The Indians had chances to tie the game but could not convert.

Mahwah improves to 7-6 with the win, while Wayne Valley is 2-12-2.
