VIDEO: Clifton girls get late goal to beat Wayne Hills in county final | ||

Clifton saw numerous golden scoring opportunities go by the boards in its Passaic County girls' soccer final against Wayne Hills. But just when it seemed the Mustangs might let the championship slip away, they had a moment of magic. Nicole Rzekiec blasted home a long-range shot in the latter stages of the second half to break the scoreless tie and Clifton went on to a 1-0 win over the Patriots. The Mustangs reversed the result of last year's county final, which Wayne Hills won 5-1.
Clifton goalie Rachel Egyed made several key plays in the second half after having little to do before halftime. The play was heavily tilted to the Wayne Hills end in the first half, but goalie Bjonda Ademi made a number of big saves. Ademi was helped out by the post on one occasion, but also suffered an injury when she crashed into a post while making a save. She was able to stay in the game. Clifton also missed a penalty kick in the second half, but Rzekiec made that moot when she scored with under 20 minutes to play. Top seed Clifton wins its seventh overall county girls' soccer title and third in the last four years. Wayne Hills was the third seed in the county tournament.
