All the goals came early in the game as DePaul earned a girls' soccer victory over West Milford. The Spartans defeated the Highlanders for the second time in a week as they held on for a 2-1 road win. Alyssa Oviedo's penalty kick less than 17 minutes into the game proved to be the winning goal. Oviedo also set up Victoria Carnevale's goal just over three minutes into the contest that gave DePaul the early lead.
West Milford tied the score just a few minutes later on a breakaway by Cristina Pellegrino. It was the 13th goal of the season for Pellegrino, who created several more scoring chances in this game but could not find another tying goal. Alli Hennion, who played the first half in goal for DePaul, had three saves including a pair of key stops against Pellegrino. Rilee Keenan played the second half and made two saves. Olivia DelColliano made four saves for West Milford. The Highlanders fall to 3-8. With this win, DePaul reaches the .500 mark at 4-4-1 after a rough start to its season. The Spartans beat West Milford in the second round of the Passaic County tournament last week and will face Wayne Valley in the quarterfinals.
