As one of the top small-school baseball programs in New Jersey, Pompton Lakes found itself in unfamiliar territory after losing its first three games of the season. But the Cardinals moved back to the .500 mark with an impressive hitting effort in a 14-7 win over DePaul.

The game took place as part of DePaul's third annual Strike Out Cancer benefit. The Spartans wore special pink uniforms and money raised went to the family of a DePaul guidance counselor whose wife passed away.

In the game, both teams came out hitting, but Pompton Lakes pulled away over the middle innings. The Cardinals improve to 3-3 on the season.

DePaul is now 1-7-1.
