*Click here for a photo gallery by Robert Harris.* Hackettstown has only lost twice this spring on the baseball diamond. Thanks to Tyler Prouflias, the Tigers avenged one of those defeats, edging Lenape Valley 4-2 in a key Northwest Jersey league game. Prouflias pitched a complete game, striking out nine batters while allowing five hits to get the win. He also walked four.
At the plate, Prouflias delivered a two-run single to give Hackettstown the lead for good in the fourth inning. The Tigers scored three times in the fourth to erase a 2-1 deficit. Jon Pezzato had an RBI double for Hackettstown and Matt Engels also drove in a run. For Lenape Valley, Jim Fluke went the distance on the mound, striking out nine batters while surrendering eight hits. Tom Armstrong and Matt Helfrich had RBI's in the Patriots' two-run rally in the third inning. Lenape Valley falls to 7-8. Hackettstown improves to 14-2 with the win, and is now 5-1 in the NJAC Freedom Division. The Tigers clinched at least a tie for the division title and can win it outright with a victory over High Point or Sussex Tech in upcoming games. Hackettstown will also compete this weekend in the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex tournament semifinals, taking on Pope John.
