If there was one performance that sums up how far the Butler Bulldogs have come from last year, it would be this North 1, Group I football semifinal contest at Hasbrouck Heights. Playing one of the teams that usually dominates this bracket, the Bulldogs started fast and remained in control throughout. In what was probably Butler's best performance of the season, it won 28-14 on the Aviators' home field. Peter Brand threw two touchdown passes and scored on a run.
Eddie DeMarchi had a touchdown receiving and a touchdown rushing. Andrew Turzilli also caught a TD pass, and the Butler defense posted five sacks. Nick Brunetti had two touchdown passes for Hasbrouck Heights, and John Cambridge ran for 93 yards. The win moves Butler into the section final at Giants Stadium for a rematch with Mountain Lakes. The Bulldogs are 10-1, with their only loss coming against the Herd. Hasbrouck Heights falls to 8-2. Click play in the box at left to see the sports video highlights. |
